About Me

Hi, I'm Raouia, but around here, everyone calls me Rao. 🍲✨

I'm the heart and hungry soul behind Millennial Foodie by Rao, and if you've just stumbled onto this little corner of the internet, I'm really glad you're here.

I'm a full-time Technical Support Engineer, a new mom, and someone who genuinely believes that a cozy meal is one of the simplest ways to turn a hard day into something softer. Between back-to-back work calls, baby giggles, and a to-do list that never quite ends, the kitchen became my place to breathe.

But becoming a mom changed everything about how I cook.

It used to be about trying new things, taking my time, following long recipes on a Sunday afternoon. Now it's about getting something real and warm on the table without losing the last bit of energy I have left. No fancy techniques. No long ingredient lists. Just honest food that actually works in real life, budget-friendly, minimal cleanup, and cozy enough to make you exhale.

I grew up somewhere where food isn't just fuel, it's how people connect. It's what fills a room, starts a conversation, and makes a gathering feel whole. That feeling never left me. I just had to learn how to recreate it on a Tuesday night after the baby finally fell asleep.

So that's what this blog is. Real recipes for real life. The kind of meals that make your home smell like something good is happening, even when everything else feels a little chaotic.

Here you'll find:

  • Budget-friendly family meals that don't taste budget-friendly

  • Cozy comfort food with simple, everyday ingredients

  • Quick weeknight dinners with minimal cleanup

  • Kitchen finds I actually use and love

  • And a gentle reminder that food doesn't have to be fancy to feel special

Every recipe here has been made in a real kitchen, by a real tired mom, for a real hungry family. If it didn't work on a weeknight after a long day, it didn't make it onto this blog.

Welcome. Pull up a chair. I hope something here makes dinner feel a little easier tonight. 🤍
